Setting Library priorities for the next 3 years

We've now published our new Strategic Plan.

This new 2022-24 Strategic Plan will shape how the Library prioritizes its attention and resources over the next 3 years.

 Gathering ideas and recommendations from our community

We heard from you! Through Spring 2022 many of you shared your thoughts via our survey, workshops, emailed recommendations, and other conversations. 

We shared our draft plan and invited comments, and then the SFU Library's strategic planning committee reflected on the input we received from employees, faculty, students, staff, community members, and other groups, before creating the final version of the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan.

Strategic planning is a process used by a group (in this case, SFU Library) to help identify which priorities should be the focus of its resources and attention (people, budget, energy).

The Library’s previous strategic plan covered 2017-2021. 

In Spring 2022 our process was led by a steering committee with the support of a facilitator. The steering committee identified measures of success for their work, including:

• centering equity and justice
• acknowledging impacts of COVID
• clearly communicating opportunities for input
• connecting the plan to Library employee strengths and Library user research and learning
• and creating a plan that is sustainable given our hopes and our capacity.
