WHY DID YOU APPLY TO THE ITALIADESIGN FIELD SCHOOL PROGRAM?
I applied for the Italia Design Field School so that I can have the opportunity to learn from great designers and expand my knowledge about international design ideas, strategies and approaches.
WHAT I LEARNED
From this experience, I was able to gain better understanding of Italy as a country and gain inspirations from their historic past. Being immersed in the space encouraged me to develop unique cross-cultural perspectives. I also learned how to travel independently.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STUDYING ABROAD AND STUDYING AT HOME
The difference between studying at home and internationally is that the latter allows you to indulge in the space, learning and applying your knowledge concurrently, while studying at home, feels like the subjects are foreign.

ADVICE FOR UPCOMING ITALIA DESIGN STUDENTS
Travel as much as possible after the trip to develop diverse cultural experiences.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Currently in my 4th year of Interactive Arts & Technology, concentrating on New Media Environments and multimedia design.
CAREER GOALS AND INTERESTS
My goals and interests lie in the field of multimedia design which includes websites, branding, typography, print and interaction design. I also hope to complete a Bachelor's degree in Communications and perhaps combine the two fields to build a creative studio.
PERSONAL BACKGROUND
I am 21 years old, currently living in Surrey, BC. I started playing with Photoshop when I was 11 and I haven't stopped since. My interest in graphic design started from there. Along the way I was introduced to photography and loved that TOO! But I also like snowboarding, playing the keytar and the harmonica.
