Date:
July 24, 2010 This video is a retelling of creation of the Ramayana through Valmiki's vision of Brahma. The traditional epic is brought into modern Canada through a discussion of re-mixes, mash-ups, copyright and intellectual property rights with George Nicholas, director of the IPinCH project.
Oral Tradition into Written Tradition is one of six videos in the Journey into Wayang (Indonesian shadow puppets) series.
The video was created by Tanys Norcott, under the direction of IPinCH co-investigator Barbara Winter of the SFU Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology in collaboration with the SFU Library, and supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canadian Culture Online Strategy.
