Erin Hogg, IPinCH fellow and PhD student at SFU, chats with Isobelle Campbell, Chair of the Mannum Aboriginal Community Association, and Amy Roberts, Senior Lecturer at Flinders University, about their IPinCH-supported project in South Australia.

The "Ngaut Ngaut Interpretive Project" was initiated after Amy and Isobelle became aware of problematic content that was being posted online by tourists and others about the Ngaut Ngaut site, which is managed by the Mannum Aboriginal Community Association (MACAI). The goal of the project was to create interpretive content for the site that was sanctioned by the Mannum Aboriginal Community to help better educate visitors about local values, culture and heritage.

"The government always pushes reconcilation, and I always say that there will never be reconciliation unless there's understanding from both sides...we've got to meet in the middle." - Isobelle Campbell

Amy and Isobelle discuss the inspiration for the project, chat about the importance and challenges of safeguarding cultural heritage, and offer advice about how to maintain positive research relationships between researchers and communities.

"I want the next generation to really enjoy what I have today — the river, the land, the connection — that's why it's so important to keep that culture alive" - Isobelle Campbell
