OVERVIEW:
Interactive media with broadcast tie-in for kids and family entertainment
PROJECT or Industry Area GOALS:
Audiences today, particularly kids, experience media and entertainment in a multitude of forms, often simultaneously while chatting with friends online or on a mobile phone. As producers of content for entertainment, we are developing convergent properties that bridge storytelling between different media platforms from television to Internet to mobility. Bardel’s interactive company, Kid Riot Digital, is looking forward to exploring development concepts with the SFU SIAT student groups under the mentorship program.
PROJECT or Company DESCRIPTION:
Bardel Entertainment is a leader in creating quality brand experiences for today's audiences. With its current slate of partners including 4Kids, Star Farm, YTV, Nickelodeon, Teletoon and Fox Kids, Bardel's original content is being leveraged across convergent markets for broadcast, internet and merchandising. For all projects, Bardel's vision starts with strategic insight into media culture and draws on the company's 20 years of animation experience in feature films, television and interactive. Building on its award winning talent of over 250 employees in its Vancouver studios, Bardel continues to expand with new properties, co-productions and partnerships.
Starting out as a service provider for companies such as Disney, Dreamworks and Warner Brothers, Bardel has grown to develop and distribute its own proprietary projects, successfully bringing to the screen the award-winning holiday special, The Christmas Orange, the Silverwing series and trilogies, and in association with MegaBlocks, the Dragons TV Movies. The company is emerging as an exciting producer of original content. Bardel is currently in production with Leaping Lizard Productions and Avrill Stark Entertainment (in Australia), on its latest original project, Zeke's Pad soon to air on YTV (Canada), Channel 7 (Australia) and ZDF (Germany).
Recent industry recognition includes two wins at the 2008 ELANS, the Canadian Awards for the Electronic and the Animated Arts. The animated television series, Edgar & Ellen, a Bardel co-venture with Star Farm Productions, won the prestigious Group Seven Best Animated Production (television series). Bardel also garnered the win for Best Production Design and Art Direction for Edgar & Ellen.
