Biography


Saladdin Ahmed is a social and political philosopher and critical theorist. He is the author of Totalitarian Space and the Destruction of Aura (SUNY Press 2019), Revolutionary Hope after Nihilism (Bloomsbury 2022), and Critical Theory from the Margins (SUNY Press 2023). His upcoming books are The Death of Home (De Gruyter) and Exclusionary Politics in the Middle East (Routledge). His peer-reviewed articles have been published in New Political Science, Critical Sociology, Science & Society, International Critical Thought, World Review of Political Economy, and Critique, among others. Also, he has published over fifty thought pieces and commentaries in a variety of international outlets. Some of his articles have been translated into several other languages. He also has publications in Arabic and his native Kurdish. As an educator, he has taught in six universities, including three American liberal arts colleges. The interdisciplinary courses he has designed and taught stretch over multiple areas including social and political philosophy, political theory, international relations, comparative politics, political economy, race and ethnic studies, comparative philosophy, linguistics, and sociological theories.
