John completed his History major and Kinesiology minor in 1988, moving immediately into SFU's Professional Development Program for his teaching certification at the High School level. Over the last three decades, he has taught every grade from 3 to 7, served as a PE teacher, and led his school as the Principal. He is currently a Grade 5 teacher at St. Pius X Elementary School in North Vancouver, BC.  His book, The History of the Gaelic Athletic Association in Canada (Trafford 2008), highlights Irish sporting traditions.
