Thomas Girard wins Emerging Scholar Award and conference invitation

GLS student Thomas Girard has won the Emerging Scholar Award through New Directions in the Humanities, and has been invited speak at its 2021 conference.

Girard will present a research paper at the Nineteenth International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities which will be held in June in Madrid in a blended online and in person format.

Girard’s writing was also featured in the Ormsby Review which posted two of his recent essays, Advanced Typography Workshops in Quarantine and Unique Ways of Prototyping, and a Letter From the Pandemic.

GLS endowments

Today’s GLS students are like many others living through a prolonged pandemic. Some are suffering financial stress due to job losses or layoffs. In recognition of GLS program's 30th Anniversary we are seeking to enhance the endowments that support the various awards for GLS students in need.
