Biography

Donald Grayston was an Anglican parish priest, inspirational intellectual, peace activist, and community-builder that taught religious studies in the Department of Humanities at SFU from 1989 to 2004, serving as Director of the Institute for the Humanities during the last three years of that period. He was also a past president of both the Thomas Merton Society of Canada and the International Thomas Merton Society. Despite his dependency on an oxygen tank, Donald was an active participant and supporter of the Institute for the Humanities and the Thomas Merton Society of Canada until his death on October 23, 2017.
