Biography
Stephanie completed her MA in Humanities in 2020, specializing in social theory and continental philosophy. Her thesis, A Materialist Approach to Heideggerian Anxiety, explored the emancipatory potential of Heidegger’s existential concept of anxiety. By reinterpreting it through the lenses of Georg Lukács’ social ontology of the proletariat and Herbert Marcuse’s Heideggerian Marxism, she argued that consciousness of social being can emerge from anxiety, opening up the possibility of revolutionary social action.
Since graduating, Stephanie has continued to expand her intellectual horizons by engaging with a diverse range of texts and experimenting with various art and writing forms. She is deeply committed to social justice activism and community building, having previously served on the board of Room Magazine—Canada’s oldest feminist literary journal—where she supported and uplifted marginalized voices in literature.
Stephanie currently works for the Vancouver Public Library Foundation, where she manages community donor engagement through online marketing, events, direct response initiatives, and data analysis. She is passionate about her work, knowing that it ensures that the library remains an accessible and invaluable resource for all members of the community.
