Influence of bigleaf maple on forest floor chemical properties in conifer forests: a spatial approach
The objectives of this study fall within Dr. Schmidt's long-term research objectives to increase knowledge of deciduous species within conifer forests of the Pacific Northwest. Bigleaf maple is commonly found in these forests although little is understood regarding its impact on soil chemistry, nutrient dynamics, and site productivity. To better understand the influence of bigleaf maple within conifer forests, this study will address the following research question:
What is the spatial extent of the impact of bigleaf maple on soil chemistry of surrounding confier forests?
