Potential candidate locations for implementation as regional hubs of palliative care will be ranked using
a GIS-based Multi-criteria evaluation, a well-used method of decision analysis. This method will be used to determine
the suitability of locations to implement as regional hubs of palliative care to service the local rural and remote regions.
It is hypothesized at this stage that one or more locations that do not currently possess specialized palliative services may be appropriate to designate as regional centralized care hubs.
The map below highlights the Urban Areas (communities with minimum 1000 persons, and a density of at least 400 persons per square km) that are outside the service areas for
specialized palliative care.
