Discussion After the design of the project, the important thing is to recognize some errors and problems that occur throughout a project. After recognizing these errors, users can learn from the mistakes and encounter it next time. Throughout the project, the census data (ethnic Chinese population density and family income) were calculated and collected from the census 2001 from the Chass data center of University of Toronto. It is not up to date. The social structure now is different from that in 2001, so the census 2001 data do not reflect today's situation now. Moreover, in the project, the commercial centers were digitized and represented by points. Digitizing them in ArcGIS usually contains errors. Also, these commercial centers may be represented by polygons instead of points. This different way of simplification will cause different result. Furthermore, there exist some methodological problems in the project. For example, the relative importance of one factor compared with that of another one is subjective. One may prefer one factor to another one, and different preferences will wight the factors differently. This will bring people different results. Another uncertainty is that there is not the only way to choose the parameters such as control points for fuzzy mothod. The determination of them is highly subjective, which will also influence the result of the project. |
