Results
RECLASSFINAL2 and NATAPRNBUFF (fig. 17) were
joined using the Boolean AND operation in OVERLAY. FINAL3 is the outcome
of this overlay. Only one area was deemed suitable for campsite development
on Vancouver Island according to this spatial analysis. To determine that
this area was large enough for development (at least 2 km2)
I operated the GROUP (with diagonals) function, and then AREA to determine
a surface of area in square kilometers. Using RECLASS (keeping areas 2-6
km2), I determined that this location is approximately 2 km2
and
is therefore the new location for a provincial campsite. This location
is shown in the illustration below with respect to existing campsites and
major roads.
