After the collection stage of my data, I needed to design the method that I would use in order to carry out my spatial analysis project.
Since this was a spatial analysis project dealing with a set of criteria , I would select to apply the Multi-Criteria Evaluation (MCE) module available in IDRISI as the analytical tool for my project. There are a total of three MCE module available, but I planned on only using the two most appropriate and widely used module for my project.
I planned to first apply the Boolean Intersection Approach for the spatial analysis of selecting the most suitable region for my Uncle's Business. It appeared to be a clear cut analysis since it was logical in this project to pinpoint the region(s) that fulfilled all the set criteria .
But I also wanted to explore and examined few other regions that may come close to fulfill all the set criteria for my Uncle, just so that he could also view and assess these other potential locations which may otherwise be left out in the Boolean Criteria operation.
Finally I planned to single out a specific commercial district from the result of the most suitable region(s) analysis. Hopefully the end result will produce a commercial core area within a GVRD census tract region that also contains the conditions matching the expectations of my Uncle's Business.
Within the five criteria that I would examine, I had decided that the field of " Chinese Population" would be the constraint for this spatial analysis project, since the teahouse business would be Chinese oriented with no alternative could replace it.
Meanwhile the other four criteria would become the factors for the Multi-Criteria
Evaluation of this project since they were factors that either enhanced
or detracted the suitability of the region for operating a Chinese oriented
teahouse.
