3. Changes to Programs/Courses
We have a new first year course on the books called Exploring the Solar System (EASC 108-3). It will be a Breadth designated non-major course and will probably be taught in the Fall 2007 or Spring 2008.
4. Staffing Changes
We currently have 17 faculty full time members, 1 limited term lecturer, and several sessionals.
We will shortly be starting a search for a lab instructor.
Our adjunct faculty has risen to 14 members this year.
Research personnel make up another 4 faculty.
Grad students number 46 .
Undergrads number approximately 50 with 10 convocating in June.
5. Enrolment Trends
Enrolment for lower level writing (W) and Breadth (B) courses has risen. Since we have moved into the new building (TASC1) we are able to run side by side labs in Physical Geology (EASC 101).
Spring 2007 enrolments were:
Physical Geology (EASC 101) – 86 students.
Historical Geology (EASC 210) – 8 students
Geohazards (EASC 104) – 22 students
Earth Through Time (EASC 106) – 30 students
Economic Resources (EASC 107) – 34 students
Upper level enrolments have stayed about the same.
6. New Facilities
We have no new facilities.
