2. Geol. 1210 - Our Changing Earth 1 section (x30 max) per year = 16

3. Geog. 2320 - Geomorphology 1 section (x30 max) per year = 30

4. Geog. 2330 – Hydrology 1 section (x30 max) per year = 17

Total Geol = 453

Note: Not including summer enrollment (~60).

Texts:

1. Geog. 1120 – Earth (An Introduction to Physical Geology). Can edition. Tarbuck, Lutgens and Tsujita

2. Geol. 1210 – Earth Through Time. 8 th edition. Levin

Enrollment:

Enrollment was slightly lower this year. Geology 1210 was held on the Richmond campus with lower enrollment (16/30) than previous years.

  Initiatives:

1. Advertising, posters for Geology 1210 continued.

2. Work on Minor in Geography complete. Kwantlen will be offering third year courses in the fall. Little in the way of new geology courses as the minor is mainly in human geography but a third year “Hazards” course will be offered with an emphasis on geologic processes. See below.

 3. Geography of Natural Hazards begins in the fall of 2007. It will be a third year (lab science) course and transfer to other institutions as such. Enrollment/interest is expected to be high.

Issues/Other:

1. Students are still taking Geog 1120 and Geol 1210 as a science requirement and alternate to chemistry, biology and physics.

2. Increased interest in earth science as a viable career. APEGBC websites given out!

3. Field trips problematic with odd weather this year. Anyone else have problems?

 4. Advertising for all courses (esp. Geol 1210) will continue. But why numbers low?

5. Would like to use articulation website for lab/photo swap between instructors!

Transfers:

As I recall, 2 Geology courses requested transferability to Kwantlen in 2006-2007 from other institutions outside of Canada (USA). Two first year courses: Both given full credit as GEOG 1120.
