- Career workshops
Every semester, we organize career-oriented events covering topics such as resume and cover letter writing, career exploration, networking, and more — all to help set you up for success when you enter the job market. - Alumni speaker series
We invite alumni to talk about their career paths and to answer any questions that current students have. Past sessions have included alumni from the tech industry, the Big Five chartered banks, Bank of Canada, and many more. - Alumni social
We bring alumni and graduating students together for a night of networking and socializing. This allows both alumni and graduating students to engage, exchange ideas, and network in a fun, inclusive environment.
Economics Student Society (ESS)
The ESS is a student-run organization that represents all students in the Department of Economics. They meet bi-weekly every semester to organize events, seminars, and workshops. Join them and meet fellow economics students outside of class.

Research Assistantships (RA)
Looking to gain more research experience? The Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) program is an excellent way to gain hands-on experience engaging in research projects with an academic supervisor. USRA positions at SFU Economics are open to both Canadian citizens/permanent residents and international students, and may be full-time or part-time.
To apply for USRA-funded positions, you would need to fulfill the award eligibility criteria: www.sfu.ca/gradstudies/awards-funding/ugrad-research-awards/eligibility.html
The USRA application cycle typically takes place during the Spring semester with postings emailed to all Economics undergraduate students and posted on the 'Careers' page.
