Michael Wolinetz has energy-economy modelling experience both global and local in scale. In his professional work, Michael has applied the CIMS model to provide various Canadian provincial jurisdictions with an analysis of the cost of greenhouse gas mitigation. At the urban scale, he has used CIMS to test the effect of regulatory policies and a carbon tax on Metro Vancouver’s greenhouse gas emissions while quantifying the associated benefits of reducing criteria air contaminants. Other research interests are in the field of forest carbon accounting and how to best use forest-based biofuels to offset fossil fuel consumption.

Michael recently earned his Master of Resource Management from Simon Fraser University where his academic efforts focused on the development of a global CIMS model. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Queen’s University.
