Celebrating achievements in the Centre for Wildlife Ecology

Congratulations to Vanessa Hum and Paige Monteiro of the Centre for Wildlife Ecology for their recent achievements (details below)!

Vanessa Hum won a prize for the Best Speed Talk at the North American Congress for Conservation Biology (NACCB) at the end of June in Vancouver. Vanessa spoke about how she has connected art and science in her research: “Bird-glass collisions: a window of opportunity to implement effective solutions”.

Paige Monteiro was awarded a Together for Wildlife Scholarship of $20K by The Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation (HCTF), in partnership with the First Nations-B.C. Wildlife and Habitat Conservation Forum and the British Columbia government. This award supports Paige's research project studying habitat use and foraging ecology of two shorebird species, Black Turnstone and Surfbird.

Vanessa is co-supervised by Drs. David Green and Elizabeth Gow (Environment and Climate Change Canada and BISC Adjunct Professor). Paige is co-supervised by David Green and Drs Scott Flemming and Mark Drever of Environment and Climate Change Canada.
