The French Fête 2024 will launch the festivities surrounding OFFA's 20th anniversary. Join us in celebrating two decades of promoting Francophone cultures, community involvement and excellence in French education at SFU!

We'll have the pleasure of highlighting the exceptional contributions of members of the SFU Franco community who have helped make our institution a leader in French-language post-secondary education in Western Canada! You'll also have the opportunity to discover all the French resources and opportunities on campus during this festive celebration.

Join us for this unique event, FREE of charge and open to the entire university community: students, professors, employees.

  • Where? The Study (Maggie Benston Student Service Centre)
  • Free and open to the entire SFU community: students, staff and professors!

Meet your Francophone organizations:

Conseil Jeunesse Francophone de la C.-B.

For 35 years, the CJFCB has been promoting, developing and representing the interests of French-speaking youth in British Columbia and helping to achieve its full potential through the organization of various cultural, educational and community-oriented initiatives for youth aged 14 to 25. To ensure consistently successful programming, the organization adapts to all profiles and desires !

French Conversation Club

The SFU French Conversation Club is open to all members of the SFU community who like to speak French. We aim to create a casual place for French speakers of various skill levels to enjoy conversation and games, practising the langue de Molière the whole time!

French Student Union

French Student Union represents the interest and welfare of its members to the French Department and to the University.

Fondation Baxter et Alma Ricard

The Baxter & Alma Ricard Foundation offers French Canadians living in linguistic minority situations the opportunity to obtain a high-level education at the world's best institutions, without going into debt.

SFU Faculty of Education

Did you graduate from a French immersion program or study French at high school or university? Have you lived or studied in a Francophone environment? If so, you may want to consider a teaching career in French! Qualified French teachers are in extremely high demand in all the French programs (Core French, French Immersion and Programme francophone) in British Columbia and Canada. SFU's Faculty of Education, with the Professional Development Program - French Module - a 16-month program, prepares you for an exciting career in education.

SFU French Department

Simon Fraser University's Department of French is committed to providing opportunities for students to develop near-native competence in the French language and acquire academic and professional skills in French and Francophone literatures, cultures and linguistics, preparing students to become competent, informed and innovative participants on the Canadian (national and provincial) scene and in the Francophone world. All our programs aim at giving our students not only excellent communication skills but also the solid basis necessary to understand and appreciate the cultural and linguistic diversity of the Francophone world.

SFU Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs

The Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs (also known as OFFA) is an administrative entity of Simon Fraser University that works in collaboration with the faculties and departments to support the development, coordination, and promotion of programs and courses taught in French. At OFFA, we are also committed to contributing to the growth and vitality of the Francophonie by establishing strong ties with the community.
