Totem Poles of British Columbia Northwest Coast
Totem poles are one of the most visible cultural symbols of the First Nations who live on B.C.'s coast. The SFU gallery features a variety of totem poles reflecting their cultural and artistic diversity.
Tools and artifacts made of wood, stone and bone are commonly found by archaeologists on the Northwest Coast. Much of what we know about the use and production of artifacts is gained from ethnographic information from past and present aboriginal people. These tools and artifacts can give us insight into past lifeways.
