Here I will post some of the questions that come up over the semester.

1.  How do I look up journal articles through the SFU library?

***First, you need to have an SFU mail account (username and password) and then you can access the electronic databank.

Let's say, for example, you would like to have online access to Reading Teacher.  Here are the steps:

   1.  On the Internet, go to the SFU Library page:  http://www.lib.sfu.ca

    2.  Find "Research Tools" and click on "Electronic Journals".

    3.  Type in "Reading Teacher" in the text box and select by "Journal Title", then click on "Search".

    4.  Click on "Reading Teacher".

    5.  Click on "Academic Search Elite"

    6.  Click on the appropriate year and then volume (if you know which issue and article you want) or you can browse through the issues.  Or you can fill in search words above and the system will compile a list of articles for you.

    7.  You can scroll through the articles until you find what you are looking for.  If it is an issue older than one year (usually), you will be able to download the article -- click on "HTML Full text" or "PDF" depending on which format you prefer.  You can save this to your hard drive if you like.  If it is a newer article, you may be able to request a hard copy from the library.  The "Ask a Librarian" service is very helpful.
