Peter Gorniak

I am an adjunct professor at SFU's School for Interactive Arts and Technology as well as Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder at Tideline Data. My research focuses on social networks and games, especially user modelling in both of these domains.

Some research interests:

Keyhole player modeling
Techniques to perform online prediction and offline player modeling with few assumptions about the game being played
AI Visualization
Investigating how visualizing AI algorithms in game affects gameplay and allows for new game designs.
Planning in Games
Especially looking at how to better integrate logical knowledge representation and HTN-style planning with reactive systems like behaviour trees
Boardgames
I am interested in AI algorithms to facilitate the design and testing of physical board games.
Visualization for Online Communities
Big data analysis and visualization for social networks and online communities. This is work with deviantART
