New funding for Aquaculture R&D -- registration extended to May 6th

I am pleased to in form you that the deadline for pre-registration of proposals to the upcoming Aquaculture call has been extended until May 6th.

Researchers now have an extra two weeks to register if they are interested in submitting a proposal with European colleagues. Further information about the call can be found via the links below.

Dear Colleagues,

I’m pleased to announce a new funding opportunity through Genome BC focused on Aquaculture: http://www.genomebc.ca/news-events/announcements/genome-bc-participate-cofasp-marine-biotechnology-joint-transnational-call-jtc-2016-support-aquaculture/ .

The scope of this Call Topic will include:
(i) Development of biotechnological tools and methods to understand and improve important traits for genetic improvement primarily through selective breeding, and
(ii) Development and application of biotechnological tools to develop efficient methods in production of sterile fish.

The call is made possible through collaboration with the European Commission ERA-NET partners: ERA-MarineBiotech (ERA-MBT; http://www.marinebiotech.eu/)<http://www.marinebiotech.eu/> and the Cooperation in Fisheries, Aquaculture and Seafood Processing (COFASP; http://www.cofasp.eu/). These consortia of national funding bodies are seeking complementarities between national activities to pool resources to undertake joint funding of transnational projects in the areas of Marine Biotechnology, and Fisheries, Aquaculture and Seafood, respectively.

As a partner in the call, Genome BC has set aside $300,000 CDN (~€200,000) over three years to fund BC participation in successful transnational projects. Projects must be multinational in nature and include researchers from at least two other partner countries (3 countries minimum). Partner countries include: Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Norway, Romania, Turkey, Estonia and Canada. Genome BC contribution is not to exceed 20% of total project budget.

Interested researchers are urged to act quickly as pre-registration is mandatory and must be concluded by April 22, 2016 at 13:00 CET.

The full proposal must be submitted by June 20, 2016 at 13:00 CET.
