Tutorial description
The task of automatic affect detection and classification from text has become a very dynamic field of research in Artificial Intelligence in the past decade, with many real-world applications: Marketing, eGovernment, ePolicy-making, Political Science, Business Intelligence, Situational Awareness, Crisis Management, etc. Different subtasks have been considered, depending on the type of text and the application aimed at: Sentiment Analysis, Opinion Mining, Emotion Detection, Review mining, to name just a few, each tackled using different methods and resources.
The present tutorial provides a broad overview of the latest concepts, theories, methods and resources that have been employed to tackle automatically Affect detection and classification from text mainly in the fields of Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing, but also including theories and practice from Linguistics, Psychology, Social Psychology, Neuro-psychology and Cognitive Science.
