Re: Bugs with mixed Zimbra 7/Zimbra 8 cluster
We cheated a bit differently for Rh5 to Rh6, which is probably not helping you here, but here is what we did.
We were running 7.1.something. on the old machines. Out entire install (/opt/zimbra) is sitting on our Netapps, so this helped as you will see, but you can probably fake it with copies.
On the new hardware, running RH6, we installed zimbra with -s option (just a software install), and then removed /opt/zimbra as just installed.
Stopped the production servers, and mounted their old /opt/zimbra on the new machines
Then on the new machines we re-ran the instal process upgrading from the same version to the same version, but this installs the correct build over the existing build.
Finally we upgraded the zimbra version to whatever latest was at the time (7.2.x)
This worked like a charm for us, but we did have a version in common that we could use on both servers. In your case, with no supported versions in common, your path is probably rockier.
