Re: Zimbra at VMworld 2013 - SanFran

I attended VMWorld last year, hoping to get some Zimbra Love, but there wasn't a lot to be found. There were about 3 Zimbra talks last year as well, and a couple of tech talks on Octopus (Zimbra's Dropbox-like solution, based heavily on Zimbra Briefcase I think) - this out of some 500 or so total talks. Some of the key Zimbra product managers were there though, and I did get a brief chance to chat with them in the hallway about the direction for Zimbra 9 and Octopus (which got stalled when VMWare decided they wanted to roll it into "Horizon"). I do have some interest in other areas of VMWare (application cloud stacks, performance monitoring, etc), so there were some other sessions I attended that I enjoyed.

I think if you're going to VMWorld strictly for Zimbra knowledge, you'll come away disappointed -- it's just such a small part of what they do.

I know Zimbra used to have a strong presence at Educause (Zimbra people, not conference content) - I don't know if they still do though.
