I didn't ask, and easily did it at the command line. Start with something like zmprov ma account@domain +objectclass zimbraCalendarResource zimbraCalResType EQUIPMENT (it's case-sensitive) or somesuch. The errors are human-readable, given a human who understands LDAP, and decipherable otherwise.

I asked this question of Zimbra support awhile back for a different
issue. The answer is "No".
You have to create a resource account, export whatever content from the
regular account, import it into the resource one, and then delete the
regular one.
