email notifications to users on alert reminders?

Hello everyone!

Has anyone on this list put together a solution to allow email notifications to be sent to a given address when an alert reminder is triggered?  (This is related to Zimbra bug 10287: http://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=10287, which is currently listed as an enhancement and 4 years old.)

We've got some clients that would like to come over from a Sun Calendar environment, where it apparently is easy to set up an alert reminder to be emailed to a selected email or group of email targets.  These clients would like that functionality in Zimbra (we're running 5.x right now, but on our way to 6.x), but so far I haven't found anything at all to indicate that anyone has tackled this on their own yet.  Anyone?
