TITLE: Economic Development         INSTRUCTOR: D.J. DeVoretz

PREREQUISITES: ECON 103 or 200 and 105 or 205; 60 credit hours. Students with credit for ECON 455 may not take ECON 355 for further credit. Writing/Quantitative.

Description:

This course is writing-intensive and will require written products each week. We will focus on those economic problems which must be overcome to begin the process of economic development. Every student will select one country and become an expert on this country.

1.     Todaro, Michael P. and Stephen C. Smith, Economic Development, 9th Edition, 2006, Addison-Wesley.

2.     Bhagwati, Jagdish N., In Defense of Globalization, Oxford University Press.

Grading:

50% of the grade will be derived from weekly written assignments, and the midterm and final will be worth 25% each.
