Abstract: This thesis investigated the dimension reduction of functional data (curve and imaging data)and statistical testing for ordinary differential equation (ODE) models. In the first part, we proposed a new method to find the functional principle components and established its theoretical properties for the curve data and imaging data. In the second part, we investigated C(α) test in the ODE models. We found this test is robust for the numerical errors of numerical solutions for the ODEs.
