SFU STAR Institute Knowledge Cafe 2019
SFU STAR hosted a Knowledge Café at SFU Harbour Centre in Vancouver in early 2019 and the workshop was part of SFU STAR's ongoing cognitive health and dementia project funded in part by the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging (CCNA).
Prior to the beginning of the workshop an environmental scan was conducted to evaluate the current global landscape of available and developing technologies for dementia care and support. The project's queries returned numerous resources that were complied into themes and similar utility purposes. During the collection and evaluation of these sources several questions and discussion points arose that were implemented into the workshop.
AGE-WELL and the CIHR Insitute of Aging (CIHR IA) also provided funding for the workshop.
The Knowledge Café was a great opportunity for researchers, students, industry and government partners and stakeholders in the aging and technology sector to:
- Prioritize areas of development for future care technologies;
- Identify key ethical considerations of current and future technologies;
- Discuss strategies to best distribute knowledge concerning technologies for dementia to those who may need it.
Data from the workshop was collected to develop a report. To view the report, click here.
