STAR PhD student Becky White received match funding from 411 Seniors Centre Society and Mitacs in 2023 to support a community-based participatory research project that will collaboratively design, construct, and implement programs at 411 Seniors aimed at addressing key factors contributing to the digital divide. The Better Connected project intends to gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by older adults living in a digitally connected world and to investigate the role that senior centers can play in helping them overcome these challenges. The project will enhance the skills and capabilities of 411 Seniors' volunteers, enabling them to more effectively support seniors in navigating the digital landscape. The project seeks to develop practical strategies that will empower seniors to thrive and adapt in an increasingly digital world.
