Aging-in-Place at the End-of-Life Project - UK and Canada
SFU STAR teamed up with a UK based team at the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) at the University of Dundee in Scotland on a project on "Aging-in-Place at the End-of-Life in Community and Residential Care Contexts" in the UK and Canada (with a focus on Scotland and the province of British Columbia).
This project explored the current state of community-based Palliative and End-of-Life Care (PEoLC) supports (feasibility, availability, appropriateness and sustainability) and possible solutions to address the unmet needs of those who are approaching the end of life whilst living in long-term/residential care environments in the UK and Canada. The long-term goal is to use findings to leverage funding for an upscaled project to develop a platform for change and innovation leading to enhanced community-based PEoLC that supports aging-in-place at the end of life.
