REEL 93 COMMENTARY

General Remarks: These recordings were made by the recordist's house, facing e water on Burrard Inlet (north side) in Port Moody. The rain had gone down (see also reel 92, takes 6 and 7), a strong wind is now stirring things up on the water and in the trees. A mast tinkles in the distance, and for the most part (except takes 8 and 9) the water is heard indirectly, from a point several feet back from the seawall. The water and the general industrial ambience from across the inlet are rather indistinct.

1. Same location as reel 92, takes 6 and 7, different position. Microphones were under a sheltering tree. Industrial roar in background.

2. Different position, a little closer to the water. Wind is up, rain is down. Some microphone static on left channel. Wind on microphones.

3. Muffled waves, evening.

4. Closer to water's edge.

5. Same with occasional tinkle from a boat mast in distance. A lot of wind on microphones.

6. Even closer.

7. A few tinkles from boat mast again.

8/9. Nice and clear, sea sloshing about steps in the seawall. These two takes are too short.

10. 20' from seawall under a large evergreen tree. Waves muffled again.

4'45" recordist's friend calling him in from the wind and darkness.
