REEL 7 COMMENTARY
1. Motor sound with a strong beat, that changes speed occasionally. Approximately every 7 seconds two clanking sounds, as if metal hits metal. Creates interesting timbral and rhythmical effects.2,3. Very different from above: complex internal rhythms in a general hum. Should give interesting spectrum.
4. Four diesel engines pumping salt water back into ground. Rhythmically complex patterns.
5. Same as take 4, from different position. Not as clear as above take, more of a general hum and noise.
6. Ambience consists of birds mainly, occasional sudden wind noise from gusty wind.
7. Microphone trouble (2'10"; 16'45" - 17'15"). Generally more active bird ambience, occasionally a cow (5'50"; 8'35"; 12'20"; 14'43"; 19'52") whose mooing gets quieter as cow moves further away throughout take.
