If you look at the
table under Interval,
you will see intervals defined as ratios (as in Just
Intonation), measured in the small unit of the "cent",
or as a position in a scale, e.g. second, third, fourth
etc. However, not all intervals can be defined by an integer ratio, at least not a small one, which is what the harmonic series consists of. |
