SASSA is the official student organization serving SFU's Statistics and Actuarial Science Undergraduate Students. We are dedicated to serving all students by creating a friendly and positive community, providing study groups, and networking among faculty. We are also part of the Departmental Student Union (DSU) as part of the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS).
This actuarial event will feature food, fun, and facts about the actuarial profession and the SOA from professional Actuaries.
SOA & SASSA invite students in actuarial science and related disciplines to an evening of interaction with a panel of professional actuaries from Burnaby, Vancouver and surrounding communities.
5:15 - 5:30 pm : Mingling, seating, and other preparation for the start of the program.
5:30 - 6:15 pm : Interactive presentations with guest speakers (see speaker bios) who are actuaries practicing locally across a diverse set of practice areas, along with a brief presentation about the SOA. The presentations will be in a panel format and based on the actuaries’ experiences and insights using prepared questions about working as an actuary.
6:15 - 6:30 pm : A Q&A session with impromptu questions from the audience of student attendees, directed to the presenters.
6:30 - 7:30 pm : A networking reception of an hour or so, featuring 1:1 interaction between students and the presenters.
