Interdisciplinary innovations
Students and faculty have long been attracted by SFU’s commitment to intellectual cross-pollination. The university took interdisciplinary studies to a higher level in 2005 with the introduction of bold new offerings such as an undergraduate program in biomedical engineering; major and honours programs in biological physics; a joint major in First Nations studies and archaeology; a minor in international and global education; and a joint major in computational linguistics, which marries the fields of philosophy, linguistics and computing science.
