Fan Trips 2009
Taken on the 61st anniversary of the opening of the system in 1948
Brill 2416 at Marpole Loop waiting to lead the fan trip. This years the fan trip coincides with the opening of the system in 1948 when the Fraser/Cambie opened 41 years ago. Today, only the Fraser branch exists. Behind 2416 is 2040. The fan wearing uniform shorts is our fearless driver, who drove both trolleys on the fan trip. Photo by Richard C. DeArmond. 16 AUG 2009.

Brill 2416 at the Fraser terminus loop. Note the route sign — "6" was the original route number assigned to the Fraser. At first there were no route numbers. Photo by Richard C. DeArmond. 16 AUG 2009.
An unidentified NFI-LFR 60 on route 3, an unidentified NFI-LFR-40 signed for 15 Cambie, Brill 2416 signed for 15 Cambie and NFI 901 2805 signed for 15 Cambie. The 40 foot Flier was in regular service, but the driver was talked into pulling his trolling around and signing it for the 15. Although this photo was taken when it was too dark for a decent photo, it does clearly the four tracks on the south side of Marine Station. Photo by Richard C. DeArmond. 26 SEP 2009.
NFI-LFR 2554 leading a line up of new articulated trolleys at Oakridge garage. This is part of the new order for articulated trolleys on order there is no space for them at the VTR and are being kept at Oakridge. Once the new wire for two or so lanes of trolley lanes are completed, the new trolleys will be taken down there. These new artics will make it possible to convert the 8 Fraser to articulated trolleys. This should happen in December of this year. Photo by Richard C. DeArmond. 27 SEP 2009.
NFI-LFRs 2133, 2536 and 2530 heading three parking lanes of the new artics. 2133 is a forty footer, not part of the new order. It is equipped with yellow trolley poles, which apparently hasn't been standardized since all the new artics have black poles. It is not known why it is parked here. Photo by Richard C. DeArmond. 26 SEP 2009.

New traction poles for the extension of the overhead on SE Marine at Oakridge Garage. The next should see the wires extended to Fraser Street providing a direct access to VTR for pull-ins and pull-outs. The poles at the end of the row are probably the traction poles removed from the Cambie line. Photo by Richard C. DeArmond. 27 SEP 2009
