Notes on Gdynia
By Bohdan Turzansky
Celebrations in Gdynia will start in fact on Monday, 22 September (exhibition, conference, ride on old Saurer trolleybus for VIPs, official presentation of the new Solaris 12AC trolleybus). On 23-28 September a special fareless route 60 will be operated, roughly along the first Gdynia route of 1943, served with both vehicles mentioned above. Finally, there will a public picnic on Sunday, 28 September, connected with presentation of trolleybuses.
Saurer is one of trolleybuses originating from Switzerland's St. Gallen and operating shortly (1992-1995) in Warszawa. Solaris Trollino 12AC is the newest trolleybus in the Gdynia fleet, the fifth Trollino in this city and the first with AC technology in Poland. It has been completed in Ostrava (Czech Republic) with Cegelec (formerly Alsthom) equipment.
You have heard of no ceremonies in Lublin, and you are quite right. The present chairman of city transport operator does not need such things. He organised a conference, a picnic for workers and photo competition.
All what I could do was to produce a special issue of our society's internet news magazine:
http://www.ltek.comernet.pl/ziutek/2003_00.html
and to compare celebrations in Lublin with those of Czech R. last year:
http://www.ltek.comernet.pl/ziutek/2003_28.htm (look a group of six small photos beneath the Czech article with very interesting events)
Actual news magazine "Ziutek" is always at:
http://www.ltek.comernet.pl/ziutek/ziutek.htm
At the title page (http://www.ltek.comernet.pl) you can always see "Photo of the week", usually one of my collection of older photos. This time there is a Soviet ZIU-9 trolleybus in the former system of Slupsk, but last week one could see just the new Trollino on trials in Ostrava.
