Nanjing, China is located approximately 300 km northwest of
Shanghai, Nanjing is the capital of Jiang'su Province in eastern
China. The literary meaning of Nanjing, compare to Beijing, is
southern capital while the meaning of Beijing is northern capital
(bei: north, nan: south, jing: capital city). Historically Nanjing
has not only been a provincial capital, but has indeed lived upon
its name as the capital of China during the early Ming Dynasty
in late 14th Century and between 1912 to 1937 and 1946 to 1949
as the capital of Republic of China (compare to People's Republic
today). A lot of historical sites can be found in Nanjing,
among them the most famous one is Dr.. Sun Yat-san's mausoleum
on Zi'jin Mountain at the east outskirts of the city. Dr.. Sun
Yat-san's is commemorated by all Chinese people around the world
as the
founding father of modern China. The Dr.. Sun Yat-san's Memorial
Park on Pender Street in Vancouver is one of the examples of Chinese
living abroad paying respect to the great man.
There are at least 4 trolley-bus routes in Nanjing, its fleet
mainly uses
trolley-buses manufactured in Shanghai.
16 Nanjing West Rail-way Station
-- Yu'hua'tai Park
31 Chang'bai Street -- Dr.. Sun Yat-san Ferry
Dock(Ferry across the Yantze River)
32 Nanjing Rail-way Station -- Re'he Road,
South
33 Nanjing Rail-way Station -- Yu'hua'tai Park
Also Rt.. 34 (Xin'jie'kou(Central Square) -- Dr.. Sun Yat-san
Ferry Dock) is
entirely under the wires of other trolley-bus routes, but this
route has never
been operated by trolley coaches.
Rt.. 35 used to be a shuttle service of Rt.. 33 using trolleys,
but now this
route has been extended with out the confinement of Rt.. 33, I
am not clear if
new wires have been installed on the extended portion. Its present
terminals
are:
Zhong'yang'men (North Central Gate) -- Ying'tian Road.
