R. C. DeArmond. Note the two tracks of overhead wires. Both head
east. The right hand set is an express set of wires that have
never been used in revenue service. Plans for express trolleys
were shelved in 1985 after this portion was built. There are two
set of westbound wires as well. They cannot be seen because of
the trees. This is the obvious solution to critics of "overhead
unsightliness": plant trees of this type in the parking strips
(boulevards) of all streets with trolleybus wires. Only drawback
is that it takes a few years for the trees to get tall enough
to cover over the overhead. 25 SE 99. Photo by R. C. DeArmond.
