Articulated Flyer 7048 broken into two parts (loosely connected?). This happened in service. The driver stopped the bus when passengers began to scream. The trolley was driven back to Portrero under its own power. No word on whether it will be repaired. 2002. 7036 which has broken into two parts is to the right of 7048 next to Bryant Street. Photographer unknown, submitted by Zack Willhoite. Information supplied by Matt Lee.

Twin Coach 642 and St. Louis 862. The Twin is atthe southern terminus of route 41 Union-Howard on S. Van Ness near 26th St. Passing it is St. Louis 862. This meting of Twinds and St. Louis was rare in SF, as the St. Louis ran exclusively on Mission St. and the streets branching off of Mission (for routes 9 and 12). The Twins never ran on Mission St. (There were probably exceptons to these, but they were rare). The 41 did use Mission St. to loop back to S. Van Ness, but it did not lay over there, so getting a side-by-side photo was rare. What made this photo possible was that during the bulding of the subway under Mission St. for Bart, the Mission St. trolleys were diverted over to S. Van Ness. Coinicidently, 642 was the last Twin Coach to run in San Francisco, being retired in October of 1976. Photo by Peter Ehrlich. 1970.

Work car 0131towing a PCC toward the Twin Peaks tunnel on Market not far from Duboce. Four PCCs are following and a Marmon Herrington on route 8. Gone today is the freeway overpass in the back ground, the cobra-head street lights now replaced with three-lamps-on-pole, the PCCs, except for those rebuilt and operating on route F. The Marmon is also gone as it route 8, converted to route F, which occsionally sees trolleys when there is an emergency. Photo by Joe Lance, circa 1970.

Two Brills on the 33 line passing at the hairpin turn, formerly a switchback operation on Market St. Railway streetcar line 33. It appears that the distant Brill isn't going to make clearance. Although the same haiarpin turn exists today, the streets have been modified and the operation is controlled by a traffic light stopping traffic when a trolley comes along. Photographer and date unknown, but circa 1937.
