APSA
Update on APSA Basic Agreement Negotiations
The university and APSA are currently re-negotiating the Basic Agreement, the foundational document that governs the relationship between the two parties.
As agreed during the January negotiation window, the parties met for an additional day on February 1 to continue discussions on core matters.
While many agreements-in-principal were reached, there remains a number of outstanding fundamental matters between the parties, including:
effective definitions for the scope of the Joint University Association Committee (JUAC) and options for resolution when agreements cannot be reached;
limitations on exclusions from APSA membership, and;
other matters the parties wish to address.
The parties have agreed to participate in non-binding mediation scheduled for three days in April, 2024, and have agreed to extend the expiry of the Basic Agreement to December 31, 2024 which is supportive of the process the parties are now undertaking.
The university will continue to provide updates on Basic Agreement negotiations on the bargaining and labour relations website.
