Title: Teaching philosophy from a career in TESOL and Applied Linguistics
Abstract: An educator’s teaching philosophy is not a fixed and static doctrine, but rather a continually evolving outlook on how to best support student learning. In this talk, I will articulate my personal teaching philosophy as it stands today, formed over the past 20 years through my teaching, research, and life experiences in the fields of TESOL and Applied Linguistics. Key characteristics of this philosophy will be illustrated with examples of materials and tasks, and links between my teaching and research will be highlighted. Finally, I will consider how this philosophy and my expertise might align with the department’s current course offerings and research foci. Any and all questions are of course welcome.
