Enzo Mari began his studies in 1952 at the Academia di Brera in Milan. Unlike other maestri of Italian design, Mari studied literature, but resorted to working as a visual artist and freelance researcher to support himself. Through this, he became interested in the field of design and trained himself through trial and error. His first works were with Danese where he created a series of mass-manufactured products such as his 16 Animali. He believed that with the design of each project, there should be beauty to the form, but still function efficiently. Recently, he has done work with a Japanese home store company by the name of Muji.
