Flos was established in 1962, bringing a sense of modernism to lighting, experimenting with shapes, materials, designs and functions. Their first few lamps, Arco, Relemme, Toio and Taccia, which were all designed by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni, are still sold and manufactured today as a testament to the timelessness of their designs. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, Flos brought in promising international designers, as they continued to experiment with lighting shapes and solutions and also moved towards development for large architectural spaces. Within the past year they have created a workshop called “Professional Space” that is targeted towards architects and interior designers to experiment with Flos lighting and its effect on the environment. Flos continues to push forward research on leading-edge technology.
