Sven Ouzman is an Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia’s School of Social Sciences and Centre for Rock Art Research and Management. He was previously Curator of Archaeology at Iziko Museums of South Africa, Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Pretoria and Head of the Rock Art Department at National Museum, Bloemfontein. His research interests and social engagements include the study of diverse rock art traditions and the use and abuse of these rock arts today. Part of this work centres on studying graffiti and the underclass. Other interests include better understanding ‘origins’ and ‘heritage’; especially in the global south; as well as fakes, footprints, monuments, ochre, scared places, cross-cultural contacts and histories of archaeological practice.
